CM Punk has not had a good relationship with the WWE, especially since his departure in 2014 over mistreatment and poor booking. He sued Dr. Chris Amman (successfully) and had a short stint in the UFC which ended with two embarrassing losses. After weeks of speculation over a possible return to WWE, reports emerged that CM Punk auditioned for a talk show host role alongside Renne Young for their new FS1 Show.
Punk confirmed that he was in talks with the WWE and now Dave Meltzer has an update. Dave said on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that FOX has offered Punk the role as Renee Young’s co-host for WWE Backstage. He added that there is currently no word on when the signing is expecting to be announced by WWE or FOX, or when Punk will begin working on the show.
Wrestling makes CM Punk feel young again?
CM Punk also revealed in an interview with Collider Live that talking about wrestling makes him feel young again.
“Talking about wrestling and me doing anything in the wrestling arena, it always feels kinda weird and uncomfortable because there’s so many variables. The number one thing for me is I will never put myself in a position where I can be harmed ever again. And there’s a lot of trust that goes into that.”CM Punk
“I mean, I gave up myself to a point where I look back at it and if I didn’t leave and walk out, I would be dead because nobody else was going to do it. Because I was sick, and I was hurt, and I was messed up, and the people put in place to make sure – to help, they’re not helping. It is what it is, but I begged for time off for I don’t know how long; I never got it.”CM Punk
