Two Main Roster Stars May Be Heading To NXT
NXT was rocked to its very core when inaugural Universal Champion Finn Balor returned to the black and gold brand and announced that he was back. Since then, The Demon King has positioned himself as one of the top heels in NXT and is currently feuding with Johnny Gargano, which is probably the biggest non-title feud on the show right now.
Recent reports are now suggesting that Triple H and Vince McMahon have their eyes on two main roster stars they want to send back to NXT. Of course, this would seriously help ratings as NXT continues to battle it out with AEW Dynamite on Wednesday nights, but it is also reported that it is to make the wrestler happier.
These two wrestlers are Kevin Owens and Asuka. Owens’ surprise appearance at WarGames led fans to believe that The Prizefighter was back for good, but that did not turn out to be the case. Owens is currently embroiled in a feud with Seth Rollins and the AOP, while Asuka is gearing up to challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship, while being one-half of the Women’s Tag-Team Champions.
Asuka is believed to be quite happy with her role in the company, while there is no word on how Owens feels on Raw. Owens’ feud with Rollins is still in its infancy, and even if Asuka and Sane drop the tag-team titles tomorrow, the Empress of Tomorrow still has a lot to offer Raw and Smackdown. It will be truly surprising if WWE goes through with either move, but it will be awesome.
Former NXT Champion Getting Called Up Soon
NXT has had some truly dominant Women’s Champions. People like Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Asuka had fantastic runs with the gold, but none of them were perhaps as dominant as Shayna Baszler, maybe not even Asuka. The Queen of Spades held the belt for a total of 549 days over two reigns, before losing the gold to The Nightmare, Rhea Ripley on the December 18th episode of NXT.
When Baszler lost the championship, people assumed that she would show up on Raw or Smackdown the very next week. Baszler hasn’t wrestled for WWE since that loss, and it feels like her move to the red or blue brand is imminent.
According to the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Baszler’s move to the so-called ‘main roster’ is going to happen “sooner rather than later”. Baszler has proven herself to be a fantastic heel and will be an ideal foil for wrestlers like Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair or even a returning Ronda Rousey. NXT has proven that the Women’s Division will do just fine without the Queen of Spades, while Raw or Smackdown could really use her talents, because the promotion has been over-reliant on the Four Horsewomen of WWE for the last few years. That needs to change, and the Queen of Spades could turn out to be the catalyst for that change.
